Delaware Bay Adventure

Haddonfield Dinosaur Monument and near Fort Mott State Park
March 18, 2007

One absurd day, Rob and I decided to brave the snow and ice to go on an adventure. The adventure had been planned out ahead of time, so a little cold weather was not going to deter us. We had decided to begin with Red Bank Battlefield and work our way around the Delaware Bay to Cape May, stopping only at important sights, unless they looked really interesting or we needed to use the bathroom.

To warm up, we stopped at the nearby Haddonfield Dinosaur Monument, a marker showing the gully where the famous Hadrosaurus Foulkii had been found in 1858, the first nearly complete dinosaur skeleton found and indentified in the world. It was also the first to be mounted, and can be seen at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadlephia.

After the dinosaur site, we moved on to Red Bank Battlefiend, which was closed due to inclimate weather, but the rest of the day progressed nicely, as we slipped and slided our way through Fort Mott (making one parent very unhappy with us), saw the snow dissapear somewhere in Salem County, and finished at Sunset Beach in Cape May.

Here are some of our pictures fromt he trip:
